A little history.


Saint Fair, founded around the 8th century. bc Like the Phoenician-Punic city of Othoca, which in the Semitic language means “the Old Town”, it was later occupied by the Romans. The town, today, takes its name from the Romanesque Basilica that is erected in the heart of the country. Testimony of both civilizations are also the Punic and Roman tombs found in its city center.

The village is located in the province of Oristano and is only 3 kilometers from the city. The exploitation of its homonymous pond, among the major on the island, has favoured the survival of a boat known as Fassoni, made with marsh grasses, of ancient origins and that is still used today for fishing. Every year in August is held the Regatta de is Fassonis which represents the most important event of the place. The economic resources of Santa Right are, in fact, made up of fishing (in particular mullet, eels and crabs) and the tourist enjoyment of the mountainous area of Arci (Regional Natural Park) that has always been renowned for the massive presence of Obsidian, a volcanic glass that in the past has animated the Mediterranean trade because it is suitable for the manufacture of sharp instruments and that today is used to make beautiful jewels and decorative objects of various kinds.
