Located in the mountainous area of Gennargentu in the heart of Barbagia, Aritzo, makes talk about if thanks to the unmissable festival of chestnuts, which takes place at the end of October and that, for several years, coincides with the dates of the autumn event in Barbagia. Remarkably, it is the traditional art of carving wood, used for the production of the “Chests” (wedding rings), kitchen cutting boards and external finishing of the houses. The Devilla House houses a permanent exhibition of carved crates (it is open all year from 10am to 1pm in the morning and from 3pm to 6pm in the afternoon, its closing day is on Mondays). If you go to Aritzo, you can not taste the Carapigna, a delicious lemon sorbet from the Origin Aritzese and produced, now, in different parts of the interior of Sardinia. The best opportunity to quench your thirst with this drink is the festival dedicated to it which generally takes place in August.
The Nature
Beautiful cliffs, numerous natural springs and dense forests that frame the country, making it a privileged destination for trekking enthusiasts. Much visited is the Meseddu de Texile, a limestone heel that has seen its cracks rooted in splendid examples of Holm oaks.
