Located in the subregion of Mandrolisai, in the province of Nuoro, the town of Arise, has a territory, rich in woods of cork, pasture meadows and springs of water. The city centre extends behind a valley, the Gennargentu Mountains are framed.

History.

Already inhabited since the nuraghic period, it was later subjected to the domination of the Roman peoples. During the Middle Ages he was part of the judge of Arborea and later passed under the jurisdiction of the marquisate of Oristano. In the "Forreddu" Ward and in other parts of the historical centre we can find examples of Aragonese Gothic architecture such as the Church of San Mauro or the parish church of the Virgin Assunta.

Among the many religious monuments, a vast area is the rural sanctuary San Mauro: The church late in the centre of the perimeter, with a stone rosette in the façade, leaves room for the numerous ' muristenes ' and ' lollas ' small huts intended to welcome pilgrims and Vendors passing on the spot.
